Browning Stainless Damascus & Mammoth Tooth Folder
The combination of Mammoth Tooth handle scales and the fine Ladder Pattern Damascus blade and bolsters creates a strikingly good-looking knife. The Mammoth Tooth has lain in the ground for tens of thousands of years and has picked up the minerals from that area. Because of this, the color of each set of handle scales will be different. We have photographed the two extremes. Most will not be as dark or as light as the two samples we have shown.
Today, Damascus steel comes in many patterns and types. It is created by stacking multiple layers of steel, forging them together, folding when heated to the correct temperature and forging together again. This process is repeated until the desired number of layers is accomplished.
Browning® has just introduced three folders combining these two materials. We chose two to feature in the A. G. Russell™ catalog, just now in mailboxes. The third is this beautiful folder with Wooly Mammoth tooth handle scales being offered first to members of our Knife Collector’s Club™.
The 3" drop point blade and the bolsters are 71 layer Ladder Pattern Stainless Damascus with a core of 8Cr. The distinctive Browning Buck Mark has been laser cut through the blade to provide immediate recognition of the brand. A reversible pearl inlayed thumbstud completes the elegant look and allows ambidextrous deployment of the blade. Locks with a liner-style lock and includes a tip down pocket clip for right-handed carry. Measures 4-1/4" closed and weighs 4.0 oz. Made in Japan. Suggested retail is $555.00.
