Bugling Elk Money Clip
Uses the same art and skill that original scrimshaw “shanters” used 200 years ago on ivory and bone. This unique money clip uses a man-made material specifically created to closely resemble the color and finish of genuine ivory scrimshaw and to be workable by the scrimshaw artist. A silicone mold is made of the hand-engraved original, then cast using polyethylene as the resin, sanded to a specific thickness, and lastly it is hand-rubbed to polish the surface and to enhance the drawing. These hand-detailing techniques result in a finished piece that rivals the beauty of traditional scrimshaw.
The subject of the drawing is a majestic bugling elk with towering mountains in the background. The strong clip is brass with rhodium plating for a high polished look. Measures 1-5/8" x 1-3/4" x 3/8". Made in the U.S.A.
