Kershaw Leek with Mammoth Ivory
For several years, Santa Fe Stoneworks has created unique knives exclusively for A. G. Russell™ and Russell's for Men™ customers. Some of those knives have been built on A. G. Russell™ knives and some on knives made a number of years ago by Camillus Cutlery before that company went into bankruptcy and the factory in New York closed. But the knife we have chosen most often is the Kershaw® Leek, an assisted opening knife designed by Cutlery Hall of Fame member Ken Onion. No matter which knife we choose, each one that Santa Fe embellishes is spectacular.
We have, once again, chosen the Leek in order to showcase this unusual handle material. The mark (obverse) side of the stainless handle is covered with a cross cut piece of Mammoth tusk with extensive cracks that have been filled with black resin. The resin creates a beautiful contrast to the natural color of the ivory and serves to bind the cracks together, creating a solid and durable handle scale. The reverse side supports the frame lock and a reversible/removable pocket clip. Measures 4" closed with a 3" modified Wharncliffe blade of Sandvick 13C26 at 58-60 Rc. The clip is adjustable for tip up or tip down carry. Weighs 3.3 oz. Made and embellished in the U.S.A.
