1:14 Scale 12 - Pound Cannon with Limber
The 12-pounder cannon was developed in France in the 1850s for Napoleon and became the most popular gun of the American Civil War. It was light enough to be easily moved, but heavy enough to destroy fortifications almost a mile away. It was used extensively by both the North and the South. The limber was a two-wheel cart to which the carriage of the cannon was attached for transport. It also carried an ammunition chest, tar bucket, leather or canvas water buckets and a tarpaulin. It was usually hitched to a six horse team and the cannon was attached at the rear creating a four-wheel unit when being moved from one battle to another.
These 1:14 scale models are constructed of brass, metal and wooden moving parts in outstanding detail. The cannon stands 4-5/8" tall, measures 6" from hub to hub and 12" from the muzzle to the tip of the trail. Weighs 2 lbs 8.2 oz. The limber, the stablemate to the cannon, stands 5" tall, measures 6-5/8" from hub to hub and 11-3/4" from muzzle to tip of tongue. Weighs 2 lbs 8.2 oz. Overall length when connected is 22-1/4". Made in China.
