Southwest Baskets
The designs for these baskets were inspired by the arts of Native Americans throughout the American Southwest. In this case coconut tree bark from the Philippines is hand woven into sturdy baskets using age-old traditional techniques. Once the basket arrives in the U.S., it is adorned with animal food-source by-products, such as fur and schlappen; the beautiful, webby feathers found on the rooster and duck between the saddle hackle and the stiff tail feathers. Silver accent conchos and wooden beads are added to make each basket unique and representative of the Southwest.
