1969 Pontiac GTO "The Judge"
Credited by some with launching the muscle car segment of the American automobile industry, the Grand Tempest Option, or GTO, was originally introduced in the 1964 model year and was selected Motor Trend Car of the Year in 1968. By 1969, there were style and design modifications including the relocation of the ignition assembly to the steering column from the dashboard, elimination of the front door window vents, interior color changes to black on the gauge faces, and minor grille and tail light revisions. For a mere $332 more, you could get the Ram Air III V-8 engine, Rally II wheels, wider tires, special The Judge" decals, a rear spoiler and a unique T-shaped handle Hurst shifter. For a little more, you could have the Ram Air IV V-8 engine that used hydraulic lifters. Of the 72,287 produced in 1969, 6,833 had "The Judge" package.
