Hand Carved Eagle on Buffalo Horn
Each is unique. The hand-carving was done in Laos from horns recovered from water buffalo that have been raised for food consumption. The concept for the design was created in Canada. The artist in Laos carefully selects the horn that is best suited to fit the design. The artist will then hand etch the finished design into the surface of the horn to give the details, color contrasts and depth. Each piece will have it's own distinct shape, size and natural markings.
Eagles, the largest members of the raptor family, kill with their hooked beak. They have exceptional vision, strong muscular legs and powerful talons. With over sixty species worldwide, there are only two eagles that are permanent residents of North America; the Bald Eagle and the Golden Eagle. Affixed to a wooden base, this representation of that magnificent bird measures 7-7/8" tall x 3-5/8" wide x 2-1/8" deep.
