Industrial Artifact Thermometer
Upcycle, recycle, repurpose, whichever term you use; these antique wood and pewter flange and bobbin frames make an interesting frame for the 12" Galileo Thermometer. Originally used in the cloth making industry during the Industrial Revolution in the U.K. The bobbins and flanges are between 90 and 110 years old. The thermometer frame is constructed of six spools and two wood flanges. Add the 12" Galileo thermometer and you have an eye-catching display for your home or office. The thermometer has five colored spheres in 4° graduation with a temperature range of 64-80° F. Over four centuries old, these thermometers beautifully demonstrate the effects of temperature on liquids, buoyancy, density and floating objects. Fascinating to watch. The lowest floating sphere in the upper part of the cylinder tells the correct temperature. Made of glass with parrafin oil. The frame measures 13-1/2" x 4". Set weighs 1 lb. 4 oz.
