Santa Fe Stoneworks Button Lock with Spiney Oyster
An A.G. Russell Exclusive
This variation of Santa Fe's button lock has an open frame titanium handle with an inlay of compressed Orange Spiny Oyster on both the obverse and reverse sides. The unique inlay begins with pieces of orange spiny oyster, a shell with rich colors that range from yellow to orange to red. Zinc is added into the voids and when placed under 3,000 lbs. of pressure, the spiny oyster and zinc are pressed into a durable, usable block. This process is similar to stabilizing Turquoise and other semi-precious stones so they can be used in jewelry, etc.
The knife is made for Santa Fe by a small Japanese-owned factory in China using Japanese VG-10 stainless at 60-62 Rc. The 2-7/8" drop point satin finish blade has a single thumb stud for right-hand use. Handle inlays are added in Santa Fe's shop in Santa Fe, NM. The titanium pocket clip is reversible for right or left hand, tip-up carry. Measures 3-1/2" closed. Weighs 2.1 oz.
