Buffalo Hunters
by Michael Sieve
250 Piece Limited Edition Lithograph on Paper
Hand Signed and Numbered by Artist
Before the great push west, buffalo herds numbered over 50 million and provided the main source of sustenance for Native Americans, but were hunted almost to extinction in the years after the Civil War. All it took was a tough man armed with a long-range rifle to earn his living as a buffalo hunter. Many of the Wild West's historical characters did so, including Wild Bill Hickok and Wyatt Earp. Luckily, conservation efforts saved this great American Bison from extinction. There are an estimated 150,000 in public preserves and private ranches today.
Michael Sieve's Buffalo Hunters vividly depicts a time in the history of the American west when men were self-sufficient and survived in a tough and rugged world. They excelled in that environment or died.
