An A.G. Russell Exclusive

Laguiole Honoré Durand (pronounced "Leg Oil On Er Re Durant") is a family-run company located in the village of Laguiole, France. The Laguiole region is famous for a knifemaking tradition that dates back to the 1820s when knives were tools used by peasants, vintners and farmers working in the fields. Nearly 190 years later, Laguiole Hornoré Durand is one of the only makers of this traditional French style that actually manufacturers in Laguiole. The bee located on the back spring is a symbol of a Laguiole knife. The bee's exact connection with Laguiole knives is unknown but is assumed to stem from 19th Century lore. The Shepherd's Cross created by pins on the obverse side of the handle served as a shrine for farmers, shepherds and soldiers in the 19th century. That embellishment remains today.

This very traditional folder has a 3-7/8" clip point blade of satin finished Sandvik 14C28N stainless at 59-61 Rc. This is a slip joint. The handle is Pistachio Wood from France. Pistachio wood offers interesting and highly variable patterns. Each knife will be unique. The liners and bolsters are matte finished stainless steel. This variation of the knife is available only from A.G. Russell Knives. Measures 4-3⁄4" closed. Weighs 3.2 oz. Ships with a brown leather pouch. Made in France.
