A Well Honed Knife
by Doug Hall
150 Piece Limited Edition Giclee’ on Canvas
A Well Honed Knife is another superb portrayal of Eastern Woodlands Indians by Southwest Missouri artist Doug Hall. While this giclee’ of the original oil on canvas painting is smaller than what is normally offered, we could hardly pass up the opportunity to showcase this warrior examining his knife blade. The importance of having a fine-edged knife for hunting, fishing and warfare was just as important then as it is in present day.
Doug grew up in Southwest Missouri, where he still lives surrounded by the Huckleberry State Forest. A fascination for the history and culture of the native peoples of the Eastern Woodlands has led to many hours studying their daily routines, dress and living arrangements. The effect of his dedication to the subject is evident in his paintings of their everyday lives and the many awards he has received.
The stretched giclee' canvas print measures 9" x 12". The striking dark wood frame with an antiqued bronze-look inner-frame measures 18-1/2" x 15-1/4". Total weight is 4 lbs. 5 oz. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. For your Indian and Frontier art collection, this is a perfect accompaniment to earlier prints from Doug: Battle Ready, Straight as an Arrow, Slippery Rock Falls, Treetop Advantage and Broken Silence, all currently available online at www.russellsformen.com/doughall.
