Bison Head in Desert Ironwood
This carving is a great depiction of the rugged American Bison, once lord of the prairie with its huge head, prominent shoulders, long mane, shaggy fur and curved horns. This beautiful animal is hand carved in great detail from a solid piece of one of the most beautiful hardwoods in the world: what we know as Desert Ironwood (Olneya Tesota). The wood is gathered from naturally fallen trees and through long hours of carving, hand sanding and polishing, the beautiful burl and distinctive grain inherent to Ironwood appears. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Polish with a soft cloth and occasionally apply a light coat of neutral paste-type shoe wax. Measures 3 -3/8" x 5" x 5-3/4" high. Weighs about 2 lbs. Size and weight will vary. Hand carved in Mexico.
